Mom (Intern Insights)

On Day 16 I highlighted a trip that TWR Canada team members took to the Ivory Coast in West Africa. I told of how the Lord is moving in that region through Project Hannah’s prayer calendar and Women of Hope radio programs. These resources are speaking truth into women’s hearts and encouraging them to have deeper fellowship with the Heavenly Father. But what I didn’t talk much about was how the programs are impacting the lives of these women’s children as well. Moms there are learning to radiate the Lord’s spirit in everything they do, and their little ones are taking notice…

As I write this I can’t help but to think of my own mom and the indescribable thankfulness I have to the Lord for placing her in my life. I read stories about West African women who are coming to know Christ and then mirroring that relationship in the way they interact with their kids, and I just smile. Because I’ve been a child on the receiving end of that love. And it is so wonderful knowing your mother doesn’t just care for you, but that she loves you enough to make sure you spend eternity in heaven. When I try to comprehend how deeply the Lord cherishes me, my mom is one of the best earthly examples I have of that tremendous affection.

There is something truly special about a mother’s influence and the impact she has in the lives of her young ones. What a mom teaches her kids, whether in action, attitude, or word, will filter down in her family for generations to come. God has entrusted mothers with great responsibility, and it is so crucial that they be pursuing the Lord with all of their hearts. Because by doing so, they cannot help but to change the lives of their children as they provide a living example of the Gospel every day.

In reference to a Women of Hope program on mothering, a West African woman says, "The topic you addressed is very important. Many mothers are not teaching their children how to meditate on the Word of God and to pray, educating them according to the Bible. Mothers have this role, though, because children are a reflection of their parents. I much appreciated your broadcast."

Let’s thank God for the way He is working through mothers in West Africa. Through Women of Hope, through prayer, through Project Hannah, and through a relationship with Jesus Christ, women’s lives are being transformed. And their children can now experience this hope as well because of their moms coming to know the One who offers this world ultimate hope, the Lord Jesus Christ.

In regards to Project Hannah’s radio impact in the area, one team member says: “It is making changes in the mindset of the women and children, the very ones who will influence the future.”
