Freedom (Intern Insights)

Happy Fourth of July to all my U.S. readers out there! In North America, this holiday represents the liberty we have as a country no longer under the rule of another nation. It symbolizes our independence and celebrates that we are able to live as citizens in this state of freedom. Today is typically characterized by fun American traditions such as fireworks, parades, barbeques, baseball games, and time with family and friends. And as fun and joyful as this holiday is, it likewise serves as an acute reminder of what some people don’t have. There are women all across the globe who aren’t free. Instead they are slaves, living in bondage, confined in hopeless situations. Whether that imprisonment is physical, mental, cultural, or spiritual, the truth is that many women feel utterly trapped.

There is good news, though. No matter how desperate or bleak a situation, there is one freedom that every single person on this earth possesses; a freedom absolutely no one can take from you, PRAYER. Please hear me when I say this: Do not underestimate the power of prayer! It unites us, it changes lives, and God wants us to take advantage of this beautiful freedom He has given us.

A Project Hannah prayer partner in Asia says that she so appreciates the efforts taken by the ministry to link women around the world through prayer. Another woman from Vietnam writes that she receives the monthly prayer calendar and reads of women suffering from bitterness because of their bondage. She prays diligently that they would come to know more about Jesus. Another Asian listener reads the calendar and sympathizes for those who are hurting and in trouble. She is so thankful to have the freedom and opportunity to pray for them.

It doesn’t matter what circumstance or slavery you may find yourself in. YOU ARE FREE IN CHRIST. I cannot emphasize that enough. He has abundant life in Him just waiting for you to enjoy. And He has provided sisters in Christ all around the world to stand by your side and support you. I pray that you go out and face this day with renewed joy. Go live as one who is completely free in our Lord Jesus.
