Peggy's Message

June 2013

Dear praying friend,

I learned recently that Kim Jong-un, the North Korean leader, is a great-great-grandson of a Christian pastor.  Three generations later, under Kim Jong-un’s leadership, North Koreans – Christians especially – suffer severe persecution and even murder.  I invite you to join me and 40,000 Project Hannah intercessors worldwide in praying for one of the most populous regions of the world – China and Korea.  For years China’s one-child policy and North Korea’s dire economic situation hit women and children particularly hard.  As we stand with them in prayer, we do it standing on the promise of Psalm 27:1: “The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?”  As light overcomes darkness, bringing warmth and life, may the faith of these women and children overcome pain and despair, bringing peace and hope to their hearts and families as they trust in the just and righteous ruler of the universe our Lord Jesus.

A year ago I had the privilege to visit South Korea, where freedom and spiritual revival has birthed a strong, missionary-minded church.  Attending a midweek prayer meeting with hundreds of intercessors, we prayed for the North Korean listeners of Women of Hope.

For 14 years, Women of Hope programs have beamed into both China and North Korea.  However, if caught listening to foreign broadcasts in North Korea, people face the death penalty.  So we cannot count on receiving responses from listeners, but we continue believing that God’s word will not come back void.

Let us pray for God’s strength as they stand on His promise in Matthew 10:28: “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.”  As they listen in secret to Christ’s message of hope and salvation, may they sense that “underneath are the everlasting arms.”  May they drink of the living water of Jesus – our Hope of glory.

Praise God for our courageous teams in Northeast Asia, but we need more workers.  We urgently need at least three new Project Hannah area coordinators to encourage, promote, equip, and bless their Chinese sisters.  Also pray for encouragement of our beautiful South Korean team members as they produce programs and raise prayer and financial support so they can serve their hurting sisters in the North.

Believing with you,

marli-1
