Project Hannah

Peggy's Message

October 2011

My dear praying friend,

I often think of you. Your investment in praying faithfully for Project Hannah’s ministry to hurting women worldwide is paying off in amazing ways. Thank you! On my recent trip to Africa, I saw how God is answering our prayers. On August 1, Project Hannah intercessors worldwide started praying for women affected by rape and female genital mutilation (FGM). On August 4, I found myself attending a session of the Tanzanian Parliament, where Project Hannah’s ministry was introduced. Three ministers, two men and a woman, stood up to speak about the role of government in dealing with perpetrators of rape and gang rape, as well as with the devastated effects of FGM and how to help its victims. This was four days after we started praying! God is at work answering our prayers when they are in line with his gracious will.

It is hard to believe that today there are more slaves worldwide than in any other time in history. Millions of women and children are trapped in a web of trafficking, sex slavery and forced labor. While in Tanzania, I visited the former slave market in downtown Zanzibar. I walked the chambers where thousands had died of starvation, thirst, lack of sanitation and brutal beatings. Few thought there was a chance to end the atrocities of slavery. But men of faith and prayer such as David Livingstone, William Wilberforce and others believed and interceded before men and God to eradicate such evil. It was a fierce struggle, but the African slave trade ended. I believe we can do the same. God will respond in the same way to our corporate prayer and faith!

Pray also for the end of inequality, hunger, poverty, ignorance, prejudice and injustices – not just for unengaged and disadvantaged women, but also for modern, educated women of the West that in spite their achievements are hungering for love and significance and in great need of hope and salvation! Jesus Christ – the defender and restorer of the weak is the answer women worldwide need. Pray that Project Hannah will bring him to them!

Serving joyfully with you,
