Peggy's Message

July 2011

Dear praying friend,

I need your help today for a very special ministry advance. Only by God’s grace can we ever overcome the almost insurmountable obstacles of reaching the many millions of women still hidden under the black veil.

Over 13 years ago in Singapore, on an extremely hot day, she stood before me, veiled in black from the top of her head down to her feet, while her husband next to her was wearing a cool, comfortable cotton short-sleeved shirt. I could not even see her eyes. That sight is forever etched in my mind and was a major turning point in my life. It was one of those God-moments in our lives where his voice is so strong and his calling so compelling that we can only trust and obey him. “Marli, do you see that black veil? It’s not only over her head; it’s over her mind, her spirit, her family – everything that relates to her is shrouded in darkness.”

That was the moment when Project Hannah was born in my heart. I surrendered to God’s call to take women out of their darkness where evil and indignities are committed against them in every culture, social class and religious persuasion.

Most Arab women are taught early on that females are deficient in intelligence and spirituality. The majority of them live behind walls of oppression, segregated in their own home, and kept as perpetual minors! The very thought of this disproportionate suffering has kept me asking God for a way to reach out and heal their wounds. It has been 13 long years, but the time has come for us to break through the barriers and broadcast Women of Hope programs in Arabic and Turkish languages! Will you join me in bathing this ministry in prayer?

As we see a ground swell of vision and readiness in Project Hannah’s ministry, we need your fervent prayer effort for the Lord to open the doors for training, production and broadcasting of programs that will minister very specifically to this new audience. Even though the Middle East hopes for a new phase of opening and freedom, many signs indicate that the opposite could happen and bring women under an even more extreme bondage.

We need to redeem the time and intercede with all the fervor of our hearts for the light of the gospel to penetrate that darkness. Thank you for praying with me.
