Peggy's Message

March 2013

Dear friend,

When I think about you and the 40,000 other intercessors doing the “work” of prayer using our Project Hannah prayer calendar, my heart overflows with gratitude and amazement. What a powerful thing! God’s heart is touched by our prayers. His transforming power is piercing the darkness of evil! After all, Jesus “came to destroy the works of the devil”!  In His name and power, we take on the constant spiritual confrontation with the brutality and exploitation of girls and women everywhere because we know that He is the only answer. With prayer, radio programs and works of mercy, Project Hannah is joining in Christ’s victory.

This month’s prayer focus is especially daring but also very timely. Recently, the outcry of hundreds of thousands of Indian youths awoke the world to the hideous crime of rape. As we prayed for healing and comfort for the family of the young female medical student gang-raped to death in a bus, I kept thinking of millions who survived this type of horrendous assault only to live as if they are dead – robbed of their dignity, honor and value as human beings. Rape not always kills the body but always kills the soul of a woman.

The Bible warns us not to ignore such evil; rather, we must take redemptive action “Deliver those who are taken away to death, and those who are staggering to slaughter, oh hold them back. If you say, ‘See we did not know this,’ does He not consider it who weighs the hearts? And does He not know it who keeps your soul? And will He not render to man according to his work?” (Prov. 24:11-12). What an amazing responsibility we have to seek biblical justice by praying and acting on their behalf. Pray for governments to defend the rights of girls and women while punishing the perpetrators, but most of all, let’s ask God to cause a moral awakening among men everywhere.

I have counseled rape survivors in many countries. Every time they bring their pain to Jesus and accept the grace, love and power of God, restoration happens. They are made whole again. Jesus’ loving touch heals their broken hearts. They have a new life. A new hope. A new eternal destiny.

Standing with you,

marli-1
