Peggy's Message

April 2011

Dear praying friend.

Albania stands as proof for the hope and transforming power of the gospel. Thank you so much for joining us this month as we pray for what once was, for many years, the most atheistic country in the world.

Shortly after Radio Tirana, the most hateful and aggressive voice of Communism had been silenced in the early 90s, TWR started using the same transmitters to broadcast the gospel. “We thought we had a message for the world and discovered that we had nothing to say!” said one of their engineers. “When I first heard the name of Jesus from an American Christian man, I thought Jesus was a guy from New York,” one Albanian pastor told me. God’s miraculous intervention has raised a striving Christian Church in Albania today!

Until 20 years ago, Albanians lived without the values, principles and teaching of Christ. People lived in utter spiritual darkness. Enkeledja, our passionate Project Hannah producer wrote recently: “Our country faces times of turbulence and violence that caused a lot of pain to the Albanian people. The recent violence during demonstrations of the opposition parties on January 21st, in Tirana left four people dead and hundreds injured. The demonstration spread to different cities. The fear of anarchy was expressed in all the media.” During this time, Project Hannah’s team received prayer requests and deep questions from listeners. Enkeledja and her team produced a special series of programs addressing violence and the root of anger and hatred. Project Hannah, with seven radio networks, has called for 40-days of prayer and fasting for the nation based on 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Hundreds of emails, comments on Facebook and calls from listeners were received. Nevila from Italy wrote, “Thank you for giving hope. This is the kind of news Albanians inside and outside of the country have to hear. May God hear our prayers and heal our land!”  Rudina from Elbasan said, “Thank you for opening our eyes and helping us not to forget that before we are Albanians, we are Christians and belong to a different Kingdom.”

Our fervent and passionate prayer can change history and these nations’ eternal destinies. After all we pray to the King, our heavenly and compassionate Father, who, unlike us, is limitless. All power in Heaven and on Earth has been given to his son Jesus Christ. He loves the Albanian people. Let’s pray with boldness and confidence for his church, the peace of the Albanian people, the effectiveness of Project Hannah’s ministry and for a spiritual awakening all over southern Europe!

Believing with you,
